OzPCTrader is a classifieds and affiliate website for computer parts, music CDs and records, movies and video games. Origionally it was intended for the metropolitan area of Sydney Australia but its current demographic is centered around Australia and North America. Many advertised items can be shipped world-wide and some advertisers reside in the USA. For customers outside the USA this has advantage of a low exchange rate as items have to be paid in US dollars.
You might ask why another classifieds website. Well, this site is unique because it has a very small footprint and it is very efficient. It is not cluttered with ads and the interfaces are simple and easy to use. There is even an opportunity for traders to bulk submit their ads and all single ads are free. This site is also unique because it runs on a very low budget, currently AUD 25 per month, and you get access to me, Andy the BOO (Builder, Owner and Operator) who is trying to provide a good service at a reasonable cost.
How can I operate on such a low budget? Unlike some IT consultants would want you to believe, good IT services do not need to be expensive. If you don't expect the impossible and apply common sense when assessing the risks and choosing the technology you can deliver a useful solution at a reasonable cost. That's if you want to do that of course. It seems to me that today many IT companies are just in it for the money. The more complicated the technology, the more paranoid their customers about security and the more the customers expect the more those IT campanies can charge. It's more about generating work and money for themselves than providing a good solution. Anyway, hopefully this website will be proof that it is still possible to provide a good and honest IT solution at a low cost.
